The Tamar Estuaries Management Plan 2013-2018 sets out the pressures and work priorities for the six year period and takes a risk based approach to the management of the Marine Protected Area (MPA). This strategic document sets out a framework for delivering a sustainably managed estuary and coast, ensuring the resources of the area are there for everyone, both now and in the future. The Management Plan identifies that the only way this will be achieved is through collaboration between the statutory organisations.
The Tamar Estuaries Management Plan 2013-2018
What do we want to achieve?
The objectives for the Plan are:
1. To maintain the Plymouth Sound & Tamar Estuaries Marine Protected Area in favourable status and, in doing so, deliver our statutory compliance under UK and EU law.
2. To agree, deliver, monitor and review the scheme of management for additional economic and social benefits through an agreed sustainable management agenda, and provide a framework for non-statutory partnership action.
Tamar Estuaries Management Plan: Annex 1: extension 2019-2020.
This document extends the TEMP 2013 – 2018 for two years in order to take it until the end of 2020 and needs to be read in conjunction with it.
Marine Recreation and Management Scheme 2018 – 2115
This document sets out the mitigation and management measures that will be put in place in order to address the cumulative impacts arising from increased marine recreation as a result of the new dwellings coming forward in Cornwall, Plymouth and South West Devon.
TECF Annual Reports
TECF Annual Reports are a central part of how we monitor the management of the Marine Protected Area . The information helps us to identify changes to activity levels, monitor the implementation of the Tamar Estuaries Management Plan 2013-18 and to collect headline indicator data that helps us monitor any long or short term effects of change on the marine environment.
Minutes
The Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum (TECF) is the management mechanism for the Marine Protected Area and meets three times a year in March, July and November. The Port of Plymouth Marine Liaison Committee (PPMLC) is an advisory body to TECF and meets three times a year in February, June and October. PPMLC meetings precede TECF meetings by one month in order to feed any statutory issues up the line.
